February Blog Hop!!

It’s PTI blog hop time! Wow – February is going by fast, isn’t it?

Our challenge this month is to create an interactive card. Using the same die I used during the Anniversary Celebration, I created a cute little Easter card. I kept everything quite simple since there were so many colors in my design.

Here it is:

I am loving the Sizzix die I got a little while ago – “Card, Scallop Circle 3-D (Pop-Up)”. It makes it super easy to complete cards like this in no time!

In case you are wondering about the grass, I first die cut Spring Moss cardstock with “In the Meadow” die, then I used a pencil to mark where the lever was in the card and then trimmed it out by hand, so it slid right over the lever to reach the bottom of the card.

Here’s a side view:

Thanks for stopping by, and happy hopping!

Cure for the Winter Blues Challenge in the Moxie Fab World

Oh the winter blues….Cath over at Moxie Fab World has challenged us to create a card to chase away the winter blues using the color NAVY in an innovative way.

Of course I headed to Pinterest to look around, and came across this cute pic:

WOW – navy & pink together? How very preppy!
Only my friends from the 80′s will understand :)

So here is what I came up with:

I am hoping that the pink doesn’t take too much focus away from the navy, but I am totally in love with the pairing of Berry Sorbet & Enchanted Evening (Papertrey Ink). And somewhere along the way I lost my ability to tie a bow, because the one for this card took me about 20 minutes to get it right. I think I need a kindergarten refresher :)

Thanks for looking!

Tuesday Trigger: Chiclectic

It’s Trigger Tuesday at Moxie Fab World. It is such a cool picture, isn’t it?

I was first pulled in by the Orange & Pink Toile wallpaper, but then my eyes kept swirling around trying to take it all in.  Then I zoned in on the headboard!

So my inspiration is definitely the French feel, as well as the combo with such vibrant & contemporary colors, with the flourish of the headboard.

Here is what I created:

"Chiclectic" Merci

I attempted to mimic the headboard using the flourishes, then created a border with BB: Retro. I felt I HAD to add the pink :) , so I layered the border with Raspberry Fizz cardstock & trimmed it with pinking shears to keep the “feel” from the background stamp. I still wasn’t satisfied, so I pulled out an aqua copic to color the diamonds in. The black circles in the center looked empty, so I colored those in in black. I had already chosen the sentiment I wanted, but wasn’t sure where I wanted it. I had a scrap oval  in aqua from the frame die in “Simply Jane”, so I flung it on there. And the eclectic feel wouldn’t be eclectic if I didn’t toss in a few cool buttons and some bling!

I combined  A LOT of elements onto the card, but overall I am satisfied.

Papertrey Anniversary Day #10: Movers & Shakers

Hello!

Oh today’s challenge on Nichole’s blog is a fun one – to create an interactive card. I wasn’t sure exactly how I was going to accomplish it, but then I dug around in my die box and and discovered that I have a special die that I bought from Sizzix to create pop-up cards. That was lucky! I had a plan to create one myself, but this really saved me some time :)

So I pulled out my favorite cardstock (PTI Rustic White) and did the die cut and the card base  (to make the die less noticeable). I also pulled out another of my favorites, Harvest Berries stamp set and dies. So here is my card:

Day 9: Beautiful Butterflies & Lovely Leaves

It’s day 9 in the PTI anniversary extravaganza!

Today’s challenge was to create a card using butterflies & leaves…some of my favourite things to use!

I jumped immediately to a universal favourite “Modern Basics” and played around for while. It took a bit to get my mojo flowing (honestly, I felt kinda lame creating a card after seeing the cards Nichole & Maile created :)

After I stamped the butterfly, I stood back and stared at it b/c it just felt, well, kinda FLAT. So I decided to try to layer the wings using the smaller size and stamping over it. And voila, I had some depth (although you can’t see it that well in the picture)

Anyhow, here is what I came up with:
